Saeima is the parliament of the Republic of Latvia. The President of Latvia can dismiss the Saeima and request early elections. President of Latvia is Head of state and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of Republic of Latvia. The procedure for dismissing it involves substantial political risk to the president, including a risk of loss of office, and no president of Latvia has ever attempted to dismiss the Saeima. If the President of Latvia decides to dissolve the Saeima (parliament the Constitution calls for a Referendum to be held immediately
