Lofton was once a minor league pro-wrestling manager, a member of the Guardian Angels and he's modeled nude for art classes. However, his claim to fame is the novel he wrote while still in the dorms at San Francisco State University, A. D. , which was so radical a book it got him kicked out of college in 1997.

However, in 1999, A. D. ironically helped Lofton graduate from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. After graduation, Lofton moved to Las Vegas where he eventually hosted a talk show for KLAV 1230 AM radio and won awards writing a column for the Las Vegas CityLife, until the Stephens Media Group bought the CityLife in March of 2005 and censored the column.

To avenge this injustice, Jarvis Marlow, a fan of Lofton's, paid for the second and third printings of Battle Neverending, Lofton's second novel. Lofton has since returned to Washington where his column appears in the Seattle Sinner. Lofton also self-publishes an underground comic book called Rufus the Black Cat.
