SABMiller and several other major corporations will attend "The Green Supply Chain Summit" in June of 2008 in London. The conference put on by Ethical Corporation, will aim issues of carbon footprint, energy and water conservation, and elimination of toxic waste. SABMiller's Head of Suistainable Development Andy Wales stated, "Whether the issue is water, carbon, or packaging, responsible companies are now working with their suppliers to influence the environmental footprint of the entire value chain. SABMiller along with other UK brewers, have introduced new lightweight bottles that use 30% less glass. The lightweight bottles are designed to not only reduce the amount of waste materials but also cut down on energy used in production and distribution reducing the company's carbon emissions. [3]
