Hodgson was born in Croydon and educated at John Ruskin Grammar School. Croydon is a large town and major commercial centre in South London, and the principal settlement of the London Borough of Croydon. Hodgson failed to reach Euro 2008 with Finland (despite attaining 24 points and coming 4th in their group).
