History

Geography

The Rosenheim district is located in the foothills of the Alps, the Chiemgau. The Chiemgau is the name of an area of Upper Bavaria. It refers to the Foothills of the Alps. The landscape is dominated by moraines created by the Inn glacier in the last ice age, including many lakes. Moraine refers to any glacially formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris (soil and rock which can occur in currently glaciated and formerly glaciated regions such as those "Glacial" and "Glaciation" redirect here For the geological periods see Glacial period. The Inn is a River in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. It is a right Tributary of the Danube and is approximately 500km In the south of the district are the Chiemgauer Alpen and the Mangfallgebirge, which also contains the highest elevation of the district, the 1838m high Wendelstein.
