Rodalies Barcelona (Catalan language name), called Cercanías Barcelona in Spanish, is the commuter rail service that serves Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, and its metropolitan area as well as other parts of the province. The names of the lines, unlike the other Cercanías lines, all start with R, given they use a naming convention based on the Catalan name of the service, even if they sometimes can be found with the Spanish C naming convention, even if not as often. Delays and other incidents

Renfe has received much criticism in the past few years because of what has been called an irregular service, due to its frequent delays, outages and other incidents, further aggravated by the implementation of high-speed rail (see AVE) in Barcelona.
