Geography

Robertsganj is located at 24.7° N 83.07° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 301 metres (987 feet). The metre or meter is a unit of Length. It is around 90 km from the city Varanasi . Varanasi ( Sanskrit: वाराणसी Vārāṇasī, pronunciation) also commonly known as Benares ( or Banaras (बनारस The nearest Airport is at Varanasi. The highway connecting Varanasi and Baidhan passes through the town. Though this is not a national highway it is a very busy road because of the towns Renukot, Anpara, Shaktinagar which are sufficiently commercialized areas. These areas have several major coal mines which cater a big part of the coal need of the state.

Unfortunately there are no trains which connect Robertsganj to Varanasi but this is adjusted by the good bus service between the two places. Robertsganj, however, is connected to Allahabad by a few trains.


Climate

Robertsganj has a relatively subtropical climate with high variation between summer and winter temperatures. The average temperature is 32°C–42°C in the summer and 2°C–15°C in the winter.

Actual population in 2007 must be around 90,000 (approx). Most of the poplulation lives on farming, and owning small business of these own , As it has become the administrative headquarters now , many people are employed in government services also.
