Robert Solomon Wistrich (born 1945) is the Neuburger Professor of European and Jewish history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the head of the University's Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism. Early life

Wistrich was born in Lenger, Kazakhstan in 1945. Kazakhstan, also Kazakstan ( Қазақстан, Qazaqstan, qɑzɑqˈstɑn Казахстан, Kazakhstán,) officially the ^[1] His parents were leftist Polish Jews who moved to Lviv in 1940 to escape rampant anti-Semitism; however, they found Soviet totalitarianism little better. The history of the Jews in Poland dates back over a Millennium. Lviv ( Ukrainian: Львів, L’viv, Lwów Lemberg Львов L'vov; see also other names) is a major city in western A soviet (сове́т, "council" originally was a workers' local council in late Imperial Russia. In 1942 they moved to Kazakhstan, where Wistrich's father was imprisoned twice by the NKVD. Wistrich received his Ph.D. from the University of London, ^[1] and is the author and editor of 23 books, including Socialism and the Jews (1982); The Jews of Vienna in the Age of Franz Joseph (1989), which won the Austrian State Prize for Danubian History; and Antisemitism, the Longest Hatred (1992), which was awarded the H.
