After failing to secure a club in the English Leagues, Robert headed to his grandparents house in Italy, where his talent was soon realised and he began playing for A.C. Pavia. Associazione Calcio Pavia is an Italian football club based in Pavia, Lombardy. Although able to play in many positions, it was as a striker that he found most success. Robert, nicknamed Fardino, moved around in the lower leagues in Italy before heading back to England in 2006.
