Recognizing Adama's increased responsibilities in commanding two Battlestars, President Roslin promotes Adama to the rank of Admiral. Adama says that while he had never given up hope of becoming an admiral, he had given up trying many years ago. Roslin tells the Admiral, "Just goes to show you Bill, never give up hope.
