Unlike the constellations of the other gods, Reorx appears in the sky as a single red star, which is said to be the light from his forge. In common usage a constellation is a group of celestial bodies that are connected together in some arrangement typically stars to form a visible figure or picture A forge is the workplace of a smith or a Blacksmith. Reorx will usually appear to mortals in the form of his avatar, a dwarf named Dougan Redhammer. Dougan wears fashionable clothing and enjoys drinking alcohol and playing games of chance.

Roles on Krynn

According to Krynn's creation myth, Reorx was the god who physically constructed the world by forging the elemental chaos which existed prior to creation into order. Krynn is the Fictional world of the Dragonlance setting Creation Takhisis, the head god of evil duped her brothers into condoning This order in turn was crafted by Reorx into the heavens and the earth of Krynn. [2]

Reorx was also the god who forged the Greygem of Gargath, a magical prison for the rogue deity Chaos, which was involved in the creation of the Gnomish, Dwarven, and Kender races. Due to his status as the patron deity of the dwarves, the Church of Reorx has a very stable position within Dwarven society. The church doesn't have as much influence in gnomish life, but the priesthood works closely with that of Sirrion to produce the metals required for gnomish invention. Reorx works with Shinare, the goddess of industry and commerce, to help drive the dwarven economies. Ionthas redirects here For the Moth Genus, see Ionthas (moth. [2] He also grants inspiration to gnomes to help them on their quests to develop new and wondrous machines. Although he generally doesn't attempt to directly affect their lives to the extent he does with the Dwarves and Gnomes, he is fond of kender and takes pride in the role he played in their creation. [1]

Appearances in Dragonlance Novels

Reorx was involved in the short story "Wanna Bet?" in which he, along with Palin Majere, Sturm Majere, and Tanin Majere acquire the Graygem from Lord Gargath. [3] He also appears in Dragons of Summer Flame, wherein he helps Usha Majere and her companions in driving off Chaos. Chaos is a Fictional deity in the Dragonlance universe who is also known as Ionthas [4]

Although not named explicitly, in the novel Dragons of the Dwarven Depths, it is heavily implied that Reorx, as his avatar, visited Flint in order to manipulate him into going on a quest to find the Hammer of Kharas.
