Remastering is the process of taking an audio file recorded and equalized for a smaller dynamic audio range such as a vinyl LP record, and increasing the volume of the recording without creating artifacts or distortion, using the original tapes before equalization is applied, to broaden the dynamic audio range for modern-day audio equipment.
