Randburg is a large town in Gauteng, South Africa. Gauteng (xaʊˈtɛŋ Sotho xɑ́útʼèŋ̀ is a province of South Africa. The Republic of South Africa (also known by other official names) is a country located at the southern tip of the continent of Africa Once a separate municipality, its municipal government has since become a part of the City of Johannesburg. Randburg's resident demographic tends to be more affluent than most Johannesburg dwellers. The area was a declared whites-only area during the apartheid era, but now attracts a varied demographic. The area, however, is predominated by white English and Afrikaans suburban people. Randburg is well known for its plethora of shopping centres and entertainment areas, including the Brightwater Commons, Cresta Centre, Northgate, Sanlam Shopping Centre and various others.
