Robartus ("Bert") van der Spek (1949) is a Dutch ancient historian, specializing in the Seleucid Empire. The Seleucid Empire /sə'lusɪd/ ( 312 - 63 BC) was a Hellenistic empire i He is professor at the Amsterdam Free University, and is currently working on the Babylonian Chronicles of the Hellenistic Age (a collection of cuneiform tablets in the British Museum).
