The Pumarejo bridge (Spanish: Puente Pumarejo) is a bridge in Colombia built over the Magdalena River to connect the Island of Salamanca[1] and the city of Barranquilla. The Magdalena River (Spanish Río Magdalena) also called Yuma River (Spanish Río Yuma) is the principal River of Colombia, running Barranquilla, an industrial portuary and special district is a city and municipality located in northern Colombia by the Caribbean sea. The bridge was named after its promoter Alfonso López Pumarejo. Alfonso López Pumarejo (1886 - 1959 was a two-time Colombian President and Political figure, as a member of the Colombian Liberal Party Its construction finalized in 1974. [2] The bridge is 1500 m long and 12. 50 m wide, and is built of concrete. [3]
