Roosevelt's Arts and Communication Academy, officially began operations in 2002 and in 2004 graduated its first class. Known for involving language, art, humanities, and history in a humanistic approach, the Academy, run by award winning teachers, Morris Umeno, Leinaala Freitas, Karen Matsunaga, and Carol Takaki, is active with the Hawaii Opera Theater and bring students to cultural centers such as Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid.
Roosevelt's Speech and Debate Organization is highly recognized for producing some of the best Lincoln-Douglas Debaters in the State. In 2005, Roosevelt's debaters took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the State Debate Tournament in the Lincoln-Douglas category.
Finally, Roosevelt's Student Government is considered one of the most active in the state. Students from Roosevelt have consistently participated in the Hawaii State Secondary Student Conference, the Hawaii State Student Council, and the Honolulu District Student Council.
