History

In 1987, Bill Detamore started making drums as a hobby. This hobby quickly evolved into a full service drum company. Each drum is signed by Bill Dere with the date it was made. Pork Pie drums are made by hand in Canoga Park California. At this time, 2006, Pork Pie employs 9 people so it is still a fairly small company. Bill Detamore still is a hands on owner. He still cuts every bearing edge and does all of the paint jobs on the drums.

Recently, Pork Pie has introduced the Little Squealer line, the Piglite acrylic line and the Big Black brass snare drums. The Big Black drum as well as the Little Squealers are made in Taiwan. Piglite drums are made in California. The Little Squealer line has grown from one snare drum to a 4 piece drumset and 4 assorted snare drums. The Little Squealer line has been a great success for the company.

In addition to drum manufacturing, Pork Pie also offers a complete line of services that include drum restoration, customizing, and refinishing. Bill Detamore has done customizing for many big bands from Van Halen to Yes and Fleetwood Mac to Marilyn Manson, Blink 182 and Guns N' Roses. Van Halen is a Hard rock band formed in in 1972 They enjoyed success from the release of their self titled debut album in 1978 Yes are an English Progressive rock band that formed in London in 1968. Fleetwood Mac are a British / American Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969) better known by his Stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American Musician and Blink-182 was an American Pop Guns N' Roses is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985

Drumset lineup

Pork Pie offers three types of drumsets. The Little Squealer line is a mid line drum that is made in Taiwan. The Piglite line are acrylic shelled drums made in California. Everything else is hand-crafted and made-to-order. The quality has always been very high.
