Poison the Well (commonly abbreviated as PTW) is a post-hardcore/experimental music band from Miami, Florida currently signed to Ferret Music. The United States of America —commonly referred to as the A music genre is a categorical and typological construct that identifies musical sounds as belonging to a particular category and type of music that can be distinguished from other Post-hardcore evolved from Hardcore punk, itself an offshoot of the broader Punk rock movement Metalcore is an umbrella term used to describe fusion genres that incorporate elements of the Hardcore punk and heavy metal genres Experimental music is a term introduced by composer John Cage in 1955 In the Music industry, a record label can be a Brand and a Trademark associated with the Marketing of music recordings and Music Good Life Recordings is a Record label based in Belgium. History
Poison the Well was originally named "An Acre Lost" and was started by original singer Aryeh Lehrer and original guitarist Ryan Primack. Shortly after their first release as "An Acre Lost", a 12" split with Promise No Tomorrow on Ohev Records, the name of the band was changed to Poison the Well. Poison the Well released their first album Distance Only Makes The Heart Grow Fonder in 1998. Distance Only Makes the Heart Grow Fonder is the first release of Post-hardcore band Poison the Well EP. The album gained them the attention of Trustkill Records who signed them to a multi-album deal. Trustkill Records is an American Record label that started as a Hardcore punk Fanzine in April of 1993. PTW released their first album with Trustkill in 1999, The Opposite of December... A Season of Separation. The Opposite Of December A Season of Separation is the First full-length album by Post-hardcore band Poison the Well. Trustkill has a strong underground following in the United States, and popularity and some success was achieved. To this day, Guitar World magazine still dubs The Opposite of December one of the greatest hardcore albums of all-time, ranking number 8. The Opposite of December... A Season of Separation gained the attention of some major labels. The Opposite Of December A Season of Separation is the First full-length album by Post-hardcore band Poison the Well. The album was successful enough that in 2001 the band re-released Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder on Undecided Records with two live bonus tracks and a slightly different title (they dropped the "Only"). Afterward, the band released one more album on Trustkill, Tear From the Red, and released a video for the song "Botchla". Tear From The Red is the second full-length album by Post-hardcore band Poison the Well. The popularity of the album grew and the band was signed by Atlantic Records. Atlantic Records ( Atlantic Recording Corporation) is an American Record label best known for its many recordings of Rhythm & blues, Rock In 2003, a year after the release Tear From the Red, the band made their major label debut with You Come Before You. You Come Before You is the third full-length album by Poison the Well.
Although the band had experienced success being signed with a major label, on June 13, 2006, Poison the Well announced that they parted ways with Atlantic Records after only one album because of "creative differences". Poison the Well released "Letter Thing" as a digital-only single on March 13, 2007. Events 1138 - Cardinal Gregorio Conti is elected Antipope as Victor IV, succeeding Anacletus II. Poison the Well's Versions was released on Ferret Music on April 2, 2007 in Europe and April 3, 2007 worldwide. On February 22, 2007 they began touring in support of the album. Due to losing two members this past year (Jason Boyer on guitar and Ben Brown on bass), Poison the Well are currently filling live bass and guitar slots with former guitar tech Bradley Grace and Brad Clifford of Since by Man.

- Poison the Well covered The Smashing Pumpkins "Today" and "Soma". The Smashing Pumpkins are an American Alternative rock band that formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1988 " Soma " originally called "Coma" is a track on the album Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins. "Today" was never officially released to the public but a very rough version is available online. "Soma" was featured on The Killer in You: A Tribute to Smashing Pumpkins various artist tribute album released in 2006. - In early 2001 Poison the Well had plans of releasing a split 7". The other band planned for this split 7" changed three times before it eventually fell through. The three bands were: Twelve Tribes, A New Kind of American Saint and Throwdown. Throwdown Straight edge Metalcore / Groove metal band from Orange County, California. Poison the Well recorded then new song, "Sticks and Stones Never Made Sense" and a cover of The Smashing Pumpkins "Today" for this split 7". The Smashing Pumpkins are an American Alternative rock band that formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1988 The split 7" was never made, "Sticks and Stones Never Made Sense" was re-recorded and came out on Poison the Well's next full length Tear From the Red. Tear From The Red is the second full-length album by Post-hardcore band Poison the Well. The Smashing Pumpkins "Today" cover was never officially released.
- While on tour in 2000/01, Poison the Well was refused from entering Canada two consecutive times. Both times they were forced to cancel the Canadian legs of their tours.
