Perdue Farms is a major chicken processing company based in Salisbury, Maryland, United States. Salisbury (ˈsælzbəri or /sɔːɫzbəɹi/ is the County seat of Wicomico County Maryland. The United States of America —commonly referred to as the The company was founded by Arthur Perdue but became a major regional business under his son Frank Perdue. Franklin Parsons Perdue ( May 9, 1920 &ndash March 31, 2005) born in Salisbury Maryland, Since 1991, the company has been headed by Frank's son Jim Perdue.
As of 2005, Perdue Farms is the third-largest American producer of broilers (chickens for eating), annually producing 59,320,000 pounds of ready-to-cook broiler meat. Perdue is behind Tyson Foods (151,300,000 lbs. Tyson Foods Inc ( is an American Multinational corporation based in Springdale Arkansas, that operates in the Food Industry ) and Pilgrim's Pride Corp.
