Janish attended Cypress Creek High School where he played shortstop and pitched for the Cougars. Cypress Creek High School, also known as Cy-Creek is a public secondary school located in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. He was named to the 2001 Texas 5A All-State team. Janish played for Rice University.
