At the beginning of his career, Loubert published The Great Canadian Comic Books, a 1971 book focusing on the early days of local comic lore, with partner Hirsh. The Great Canadian Comic Books (ISBN 0-88778-065-2 is a 1971 book from Peter Martin Associates. Under the alias of Speed Savage, the name of an obscure comic book hero, he wrote the 1972 live-action cult film, Voulez-vous coucher avec God?. With Don Haig, he scripted and directed 125 Rooms of Comfort, another live-action project, in 1974.
