Parkhurst is a heavily degraded lunar crater to the northeast of the Mare Australe on the far side of the Moon. Geometry, a diameter of a Circle is any straight Line segment that passes through the center of the circle and whose Endpoints are on the The depth of any crater in a solid Planet or moon - whether it is an Impact crater, a Volcanic crater, or a Subsidence crater - may Selenographic coordinates are used to refer to locations on the surface of Earth 's Moon. John Adelbert Parkhurst (September 24 1861&ndashMarch 1 1925 was an American Astronomer. In the broadest sense the term impact crater can be applied to any depression natural or manmade resulting from the high velocity impact of a projectile with larger body Mare Australe (the "southern sea" is a Lunar mare located in the southeastern hemisphere of the Moon. Far Side of the Moon, in original French, La face cachée de la lune, is a 2003 film by Robert Lepage. To the north-northeast of Parkhurst is Scaliger crater and to the southwest lies the dark-floored Gernsback crater. Scaliger is a prominent lunar Impact crater that is located in the southern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon. Gernsback is a lunar crater on the far side of the Moon. It is located in the northeastern part of the uneven Mare Australe, just The small lunar mare named Lacus Solitudinus lies due north of Parkhurst. The lunar maria (singular mare, two syllables are large dark Basaltic plains on Earth 's Moon, formed by ancient Volcanic eruptions

Little remains of this crater formation other than the uneven outline of the outer rim. Several satellite craters lie along the rim edge, with 'Parkhust D' along the northeast, 'B' to the north, and 'X' along the northwest. The satellite crater 'Parkhurst Q' is pushing into the southwestern rim, distorting the edge shape. The interior floor of Parkhurst is pock-marked by small and tiny craterlets.

Satellite craters

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Parkhurst crater.
