Paolo Virchi (1551-May 2, 1610), was an Italian composer and instrumentalist. Events 1194 - King Richard I of England gives Portsmouth its first Royal Charter. He was born in Brescia, and his father was Girolamo Virchi, an instrument maker. Brescia ( Lombard: Brèsa) is a city in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. He joined the court of Alfonso II d'Este between 1579 and 1580.
