Padley Gorge is a deep but narrow valley in the Peak District, Derbyshire between the village of Grindleford and Fox House, Sheffield. The gorge itself is woodland with a stream, the Burbage Brook down the bottom of the gorge. Burbage Brook is a river in Padley Gorge, Derbyshire, England, situated close to Sheffield. This stream used to be the boundary between Derbyshire and Yorkshire but is now in the middle of Hathersage Road (A625). Hathersage Road is a road in Sheffield. It leads south-west from the suburb of Whirlow to the border between Hathersage and Sheffield, before The A625 is a rural road which runs through north Derbyshire and the Peak District.

Padley Gorge begins near Grindleford Station at a stile where a post has been installed. Grindleford railway station serves the village of Grindleford in the Derbyshire Peak District, in England, although it is about a mile way Although the valley continues up towards Hathersage Road and Burbage, the gorge finishes on the edge of the woodland. Padley Gorge forms the backbone of several walks in the area and the railway station approach road forms a convenient car park for walkers.

A mile up the path that goes up the gorge is Fox House, a pub and hotel on the road to Sheffield and marks the beginning of Sheffield. Longshaw Estate is equally close and its lands include the gorge. Longshaw Estate is an area of moorland woodland and farmland located within the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, England. The lands to the north and east of the gorge are moorland with relics of stone circles, for example the Stoke Flatt circle on Froggatt Edge and ancient settlements such as Swine Sty.
