The band OURS is the rock band led by singer Jimmy Gnecco. Since their creation in 1990, the lineup has evolved but Gnecco has always felt that having a rotating group of musicians who could play off each other was important. In high school, Gnecco was in the band Lost Child and later, The Harmony Bandits (which eventually evolved into what is now OURS). Around 1992-1994, OURS released their first album titled Sour under their own label entitled "Beatnik Records" owned by Mike Marri. Sour is the first official recording by rock group Ours. Sour is an Anagram of the band's name Afterwards, the band dissolved and would not reform again for several years.
In 1997, Gnecco started OURS again and quickly drew industry attention. Jimmy signed with DreamWorks Records and after 4 years, OURS released their first major label album Distorted Lullabies in 2001. DreamWorks Records was an American Record label. Founded in 1996 by David Geffen, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg as a subsidiary Distorted Lullabies is the band Ours ' first official album Released on the Dreamworks label on May 15 2001 it is largely composed of melodic rock Produced by Steve Lillywhite of U2 fame, the album received mixed reviews but led to successful tours with acts such as Ocean Colour Scene, Pete Yorn, and The Cult. Precious followed quickly in 2002. Precious is the second album by rock group Ours. When recording this album Jimmy Gnecco wanted to get it done quickly and didn't aim for the polished production Precious featured a more stripped-down sound and received much more positive reviews and a slot opening for The Wallflowers. The Wallflowers are a Grammy Award -winning rock band from Los Angeles California.
In 2004, Ours relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to work with legendary producer Rick Rubin. Frederick Jay "Rick" Rubin (born March 10 1963 in Lido Beach New York) is an American Record producer and is currently The resulting album, Mercy (Dancing for the Death of an Imaginary Enemy), was released on April 15, 2008. Mercy (Dancing For The Death Of An Imaginary Enemy is the band Ours ' third major label release Current members of the band Ours, under the monikers Static, Locke, Race, and Pit, along with Jimmy, are currently preparing for their 2008 tour.
Jimmy Gnecco was a friend of Jeff Buckley and it is often mistakenly claimed that he worked as Jeff's guitar tech in 1995. Jeffrey Scott Buckley (November 17 1966 – May 29 1997 raised as Scotty Moorhead, was an American Singer-songwriter and Guitarist He was the son Jimmy never worked as his tech. He later shared Jeff's management team.
Jimmy Gnecco recorded a cover of Big Country's "In a Big Country" in a recent ad campaign for Kohl's department stores.
