In computing, object model has two related but distinct meanings:

  1. The properties of objects in general, in a specific computer programming language, technology, notation or methodology that uses them. Computing is usually defined like the activity of using and developing Computer technology Computer hardware and software. In its simplest embodiment an object is an allocated region of storage A programming language is an Artificial language that can be used to write programs which control the behavior of a machine particularly a Computer. Methodology (also called manner) is defined as "the analysis of the principles of methods rules and postulates employed by a discipline" For example, the Java object model, the COM object model, or the object model of OMT. Component Object Model ( COM) is an interface standard for Software componentry introduced by Microsoft in 1993 The object-modeling technique ( OMT) is an Object modeling language for software modeling and designing Such object models are usually defined using concepts such as class, message, inheritance, polymorphism, and encapsulation. In Object-oriented programming, a class is a Programming language construct that is used as a blueprint to create objects This blueprint includes attributes In Computer science, message passing is a form of communication used in Parallel computing, Object-oriented programming, and Interprocess communication In Object-oriented programming, inheritance is a way to form new classes (instances of which are called objects using classes that have already been defined In simple terms polymorphism is the ability of one type A to appear as and be used like another type B In Computer science, the principle of information hiding is the hiding of design decisions in a computer program that are most likely to change thus protecting There is an extensive literature on formalized object models as a subset of the formal semantics of programming languages. In Theoretical computer science, formal semantics is the field concerned with the rigorous mathematical study of the meaning of Programming languages and models of
  2. A collection of objects or classes through which a program can examine and manipulate some specific parts of its world. Computer programs (also software programs, or just programs) are instructions for a Computer. In other words, the object-oriented interface to some service or system. Interface generally refers to an abstraction that an entity provides of itself to the outside Such an interface is said to be the object model of the represented service or system. For example, the HTodel (DOM) [1] is a collection of objects that represent a page in a web browser, used by script programs to examine and dynamically change the page. The Document Object Model ( DOM) is a platform- and language -independent standard Object model for representing HTML or XML and related A web page or webpage is a resource of information that is suitable for the World Wide Web and can be accessed through a Web browser. A web browser is a software application which enables a user to display and interact with text images videos music games and other information typically located on a "Scripting" redirects here For other uses see Script. There is a Microsoft Excel object model [2] for controlling Microsoft Excel from another program, and the ASCOM Telescope Driver [3] is an object model for controlling an astronomical telescope. In Computing, Microsoft Excel (full name Microsoft Office Excel) consists of a proprietary Spreadsheet -application written and distributed ASCOM (an abbreviation for AS tronomy C ommon O bject M odel is an open initiative to provide a standard interface to a range of astronomy equipment
