Nueva Galicia ("New Galicia") was a region of New Spain. The Viceroyalty of New Spain (Virreinato de Nueva España was a name given to the Viceroy -ruled territories of the Spanish Empire in North America, It was named after Galicia in Spain. Galicia (occasionally Galiza) is an autonomous community in northwest Spain. Spain () or the Kingdom of Spain (Reino de España is a country located mostly in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. In the late 18th century, Nueva Galicia became the colonial Intendencia of Guadalajara. The 18th century lasted from 1701 to 1800 in the Gregorian calendar, in accordance with the Anno Domini / Common Era numbering system The title of intendant (intendant Spanish intendente) has been used in a number of countries through history Guadalajara (ˌgwɑːdləˈhɑːrə Spanish pronunciation) is the capital city of the Mexican state of Jalisco, and the seat of the municipality Nueva Galicia consists of the states of Aguascalientes, Colima and Jalisco, and neighbouring parts of Durango, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit and Zacatecas.
