Barr joined Seven News in Sydney as a reporter in 1994. Seven News is the television news service of the Seven Network in Australia.

Barr has been the newsreader on the Seven Network show Sunrise since 2002, after a stint as fill-in presenter over summer proved her popularity with the audience. The Seven Network is an Australian television network, owned by the Seven Media Group. Sunrise is an Australian Breakfast television program broadcast on Channel Seven. She has previously presented other bulletins at Seven including the Morning and Late News, and Weekend Sunrise.

She is married to Andrew (a television commercial editor) . They have two children, Lachlan and Hunter. [1]
