Myrkskog is a blackened death metal band (formed in 1993) from Drammen, Norway. Usually their music consists of thunderous high speed doublebass with remarkably rapid blastbeats and fills. Guitars are made up of harmonic tremolo picking and sometimes powerchords with fast solos composed by Destructhor who, along with Secthdamon, currently plays in Zyklon. Their debut album Deathmachine is a hybrid blackened death metal album combining attributes of both genres, their second album Superior Massacre is much more death metal oriented with much more prominent basslines and less tremolo picked riffs. The name 'Myrkskog' is apparently a translation of the Norwegian for 'Mirkwood'.

Personnel
Currently, they consist of a guitarist (Destructhor - he is also the vocalist), a bassist (Demariel or Gortheon), and a drummer (Secthdamon - he also does backing vocals). Destructhor and Secthdamon are also in Zyklon. Zyklon is a Norwegian Blackened death metal band formed in 1998 by Samoth and Trym of Norwegian Black metal band Emperor Myrkskog has released only two Full-Length albums through the UK's Candlelight Records - Deathmachine (2000) and Superior Massacre (2002). Candlelight Records is an Independent record label based in Europe originally founded by former Extreme Noise Terror bassist Lee Barrett though it has Superior Massacre also contained material by the Norwegian experimental duo Epilektrician, used as intro and outro.
Secthdamon and Demariel are also members of the Black Metal band Odium who released one album in 1999 and are currently inactive. Gorky 17 (released as Odium in North America is a Turn-based tactics computer game created by Polish developer Metropolis
Since leaving Myrkskog, Savant M (now known as Drakul Azacain) founded the Black Metal band Disiplin who have released 2 albums and was briefly a member of Dissection. Dissection was a Blackened death metal band from Strömstad, Sweden.
