347th Rescue Group

The 347th Rescue Group directs flying and maintenance of the only U. The United States Air Force 's 347th Rescue Wing is an inactive combat Search and rescue unit last assigned to Moody AFB, Georgia. Along with the three training squadrons is the 479th Operations Support Squadron, which consists of a life support flight and physiological flight, providing training and mission essential support for the three flying squadrons. The 479 FTG conducts initial Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPOT) via the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) and Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals (IFF) for the Air Force’s newest generation of tactical aviators.

820th Security Forces Group

Air Combat Command's 820th Security Forces Group is a Force Protection unit which provides Air Force Expeditionary Groups self-sustaining Force Protection capability for initial U. S. "first-in" forces to any operating location in support of the Air Force Global Engagement mission.

The 93d Air Ground Operations Wing (93 AGOW) is a non-flying active support wing activated on 25 January 2008. The 93d's mission is to manage and providing combat-ready tactical air control party personnel, battlefield weather, and force protection assets for joint forces commanders.

Moody Air Force Base was named in memory of Major George Putnam Moody, an Air Force pioneer killed in May 1941, while serving with the Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. From its beginning Moody served as a pilot training base for thousands of Air Force pilots. For many years, the 3550th Pilot Training Wing under the Consolidated Pilot Training Program, trained Air Force officers as pilots.
