The municipality of Moerdijk was founded in 1997 as a merge of the municipalities of Fijnaart en Heijningen, Klundert, Standdaarbuiten, Willemstad and Zevenbergen. Fijnaart en Heijningen is a former municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Klundert (population as of 2002: 5816 is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Standdaarbuiten is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Willemstad is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Moerdijk. Zevenbergen is a Dutch city which is a part of the municipality of Moerdijk. At that point in time, the new municipality was called Zevenbergen, a name changed to Moerdijk in 1998.
