Mildred J. Hill, born in Louisville, Kentucky, was the oldest of three sisters, Mildred, Patty, and Jessica. She learned music from her father, Calvin Cody, and Adolph Weidig. Music is an Art form in which the medium is Sound organized in Time.

Mildred J. Hill died in Chicago, Illinois, in 1916. Chicago (ʃɪˈkɑːgoʊ is the largest City by population in the state of Illinois and the American Midwest of the United States. She is buried with her sister in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky. Cave Hill Cemetery is a Victorian era National Cemetery and Arboretum located at 701 Baxter Avenue Louisville Kentucky.

Hill and her sister were posthumously inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame on June 12, 1996. The Songwriters Hall of Fame is an arm of the National Academy of Popular Music.
