For a period Michael Bertiaux was a secretary of the Theosophical Society until moving to Chicago where he trained and qualified as a social worker, a job he remained in for just under forty years. The Theosophical Society was the organization formed to advance the spiritual principles and search for Truth known as Theosophy. Chicago (ʃɪˈkɑːgoʊ is the largest City by population in the state of Illinois and the American Midwest of the United States. Social work is a discipline involving the application of Social theory and research methods to study and improve the lives of people groups and societies He worked especially with the Haitian communities. After his retirement Bertiaux has been focussed on his art and writing.
