Messier 4 (also known as M4 or NGC 6121) is a globular cluster in the constellation Scorpius. Antares (α Scorpii / Alpha Scorpii is a Red supergiant Star in the Milky Way Galaxy and the sixteenth brightest star The New General Catalogue ( NGC) is the best-known catalogue of Deep sky objects in Amateur astronomy. A globular cluster is a spherical collection of Stars that orbits a galactic core as a Satellite. This is a list of Globular clusters. The apparentmagnitude does not include an extinction correction A globular cluster is a spherical collection of Stars that orbits a galactic core as a Satellite. M4 was the first globular cluster in which individual stars were resolved. M4 is conspicuous in even the smallest of telescopes as a fuzzy ball of light. A telescope is an instrument designed for the observation of remote objects and the collection of Electromagnetic radiation. It is also the one of the easiest globular clusters to find, being located only 1. 3 degrees west of the bright star Antares, with both objects being visible in a wide field telescope. Antares (α Scorpii / Alpha Scorpii is a Red supergiant Star in the Milky Way Galaxy and the sixteenth brightest star Modestly sized telescopes will begin to resolve individual stars of which the brightest in M4 are of apparent magnitude 10. The apparent magnitude ( m) of a celestial body is a measure of its Brightness as seen by an observer on Earth, normalized to the value 8.

At the distance of 7,200 light-years that has been determined for M4, it is perhaps the closest globular cluster to our Solar system. The Solar System consists of the Sun and those celestial objects bound to it by Gravity. It is also a rather loosely concentrated cluster of class IX. M4 appears about the same size as the Moon on the sky which, given its distance, yields a spatial dimension of some 75 light years across. At least 43 variable stars have been observed in this cluster. For the astronomical object see Variable star. Variable Star is a 2006 novel written by Spider Robinson

In 1987 a millisecond pulsar was discovered in M4 with a period of 3. Year 1987 ( MCMLXXXVII) was a Common year starting on Thursday (link displays 1987 Gregorian calendar) A millisecond pulsar ( MSP) often referred to as "recycled pulsar", is a Pulsar with a rotational period in the range of about 1-10 Milliseconds 0 milliseconds or about ten times faster than the Crab Pulsar. A millisecond (from Milli- and Second; abbreviation ms is one thousandth of a Second. The Crab Pulsar (PSR B0531+21 is a relatively young Neutron star. Photographs taken with the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995 have revealed white dwarf stars in M4 that are among the oldest known stars in the Milky Way Galaxy at an age of 13 billion years. The Hubble Space Telescope ( HST; also known colloquially as "the Hubble" or just "Hubble" is a space telescope that was carried into Year 1995 ( MCMXCV) was a Common year starting on Sunday. Events of 1995 A white dwarf, also called a degenerate dwarf, is a small Star composed mostly of Electron-degenerate matter. The Milky Way (a translation of the Latin Via Lactea, in turn derived from the Greek Γαλαξίας (Galaxias sometimes referred to simply A galaxy is a massive gravitationally bound system consisting of Stars an Interstellar medium of gas and dust, and Dark matter A year (from Old English gēr) is the time between two recurrences of an event related to the Orbit of the Earth around the Sun One such white dwarf has been found to be a binary star with a pulsar companion, PSR B1620-26 and a planet orbiting it with a mass of 2. A binary star is a Star system consisting of two Stars orbiting around their Center of mass. PSR B1620-26 is a Binary star system approximately 12400 Light-years away in the Constellation of Scorpius. 5 times that of Jupiter. Image:m4.jpg
