Mark Liberman is a linguist. Liberman's main research interests lie in phonetics, prosody, and other aspects of speech communication. Phonetics (from the Greek φωνή ( phonê) "sound" or "voice" is the study of the physical sounds of human speech Speech refers to the processes associated with the production and perception of Sounds used in Spoken language. His research is frequently conducted through computational analyses of linguistic corpora. Computational linguistics is an Interdisciplinary field dealing with the statistical and/or rule-based modeling of Natural language from a computational Corpus linguistics is the Study of language as expressed in Samples ( corpora) or "real world" text

Liberman is also the founder of (and frequent contributor to) Language Log, a blog with a broad cast of dozens of professional linguists.
