Llanelltyd is a small village in Gwynedd, to the north of Dolgellau. History Gwynedd was an independent kingdom from the end of the Roman period until the 13th Century when it was conquered and subjugated by England Dolgellau (pronounced /dɔl'gɛɬaɨ/ occasionally /-gɛɬi/ is a Market town in Gwynedd, north-west Wales, lying on the River Wnion, It is home to the 12th-century Cymer Abbey and one of the oldest parish churches in Wales. Cymer Abbey is a ruined Cistercian Abbey near the Village of Llanelltyd, just north of Dolgellau, Gwynedd, in north-west
