Little Island is an industrial and residential area to the east of Cork City. Cork (Corcaigh is the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland and the island of Ireland 's third most populous city after Dublin and Belfast Many of Cork's pharmaceutical companies are based on the island. In recent years development on Little Island has grown rapidly, with developments such as East Gate which consists of retail and commercial development. The main drainage sewage treatment plant for Cork City is based in Little Island. There are also two golf clubs located here, Harbour Point Golf Club and Cork Golf Club.
