Little Boy Blue is a nursery rhyme with probable origins in the Middle Ages. Little Boy Blue is a 1981 semi- autobiographical novel by Edward Bunker that follows his journey into Crime and Deviance. A nursery rhyme is a traditional Song or Poem taught to young children originally in the nursery. Little Boy Blue was a hayward by profession. Hayward, or " hedge warden" was an occupation in the Middle Ages, now defunct

Rhyme

Little boy blue, come blow your horn
The sheep's in the meadow, the cow's in the corn
Where is that boy who looks after the sheep?
"Under the haystack fast asleep"
Will you wake him? "Oh no, not I
For if I do he will surely cry"

Alternate versions

Many versions do not include the last two lines, ending the rhyme at "fast asleep. "
