Lithification (from the Greek word lithos meaning 'rock' and the Latin-derived suffix -ific) is the process in which sediments compact under pressure, expel connate fluids, and gradually become solid rock. Greek (el ελληνική γλώσσα or simply el ελληνικά — "Hellenic" is an Indo-European language, spoken today by 15-22 million people mainly Latin ( lingua Latīna, laˈtiːna is an Italic language, historically spoken in Latium and Ancient Rome. Sediment is any particulate matter that can be transported by fluid flow and which eventually is deposited as a layer of solid particles on the bed or bottom of a body of Pressure (symbol 'p' is the force per unit Area applied to an object in a direction perpendicular to the surface The term connate fluids in the context of Geology, and of Sedimentology in particular refers to the liquids that were trapped in the pores of Sedimentary rocks Essentially, lithification is a process of porosity destruction through compaction and cementation. Porosity is a measure of the void spaces in a material and is measured as a fraction between 0–1 or as a Percentage between 0–100% Compaction (geology refers to the process by which a Sediment progressively loses its Porosity due to the effects of loading Lithification includes all the processes which convert unconsolidated sediments into sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rock is one of the three main rock types (the others being igneous and Metamorphic rock) Petrification, though often used as a synonym, is more specifically used to describe the replacement of organic material by minerals in the formation of fossils. In Geology, petrifaction or petrification is the process by which Organic material is converted into stone or a similar substance without An organic compound is any member of a large class of Chemical compounds whose Molecules contain Carbon. A mineral is a naturally occurring substance formed through geological processes that has a characteristic chemical composition a highly ordered atomic structure and specific FOSSIL is a standard protocol for allowing serial communication for Telecommunications programs under the DOS Operating system.
