New Mexico counties
This is a list of the thirty-three counties in the U.S. state of New Mexico. A county is a Land area of Regional Government within a larger State. The United States of America —commonly referred to as the A US state is any one of the fifty subnational entities of the United States of America that share Sovereignty with the federal government New Mexico ( is a state located in the southwestern region of the United States of America. There were originally nine counties formed in 1852. Santa Ana County, New Mexico Territory, one of the nine original counties, was annexed in 1876 to Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Santa Ana County was one of the seven original partidos created in New Mexico under Mexican rule Bernalillo County is the most populated county in the US state of New Mexico.
The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) code, which is used by the United States government to uniquely identify states and counties, is provided with each entry. Federal Information Processing Standards ( FIPS) are publicly announced standards developed by the United States Federal government for use by all non-military [1] New Mexico's code is 35, which when combined with any county code would be written as 35XXX. The FIPS code for each county links to census data for that county.
