The competition was organised by Sir Thomas Lipton of the world famous Lipton Tea brand. Sir Thomas Johnstone Lipton Bt KCVO (born 10 May 1848 in Glasgow; died 2 October 1931 in London Lipton is one of the world's best-known and best-selling brands of both hot leaf and ready-to-drink Tea. In the final most commonly were Palermo FBC and Naples FBC, however, US Internazionale Napoli and Messina FC (also known as SG Garibaldi Messina[4]) competed in the competition at various points too.
