Current format

Liga II has two parallel regional (West - East) division, each with 18 teams. The top two from each division get promoted to Liga I. "Divizia A" redirects here Liga is the official name of the top division of the Romanian football league system. The bottom four from each division are relegated to Liga III. Current format Liga III has six parallel regional divisions each with 18 teams

Future changes

Starting with the 2011/2012 season, Liga II will have only one division of 18-20 teams. ^[1]
