Lichenin is a complex glucan occurring in certain species of lichens. A glucan molecule is a Polysaccharide of D- Glucose monomers linked by glycosidic bonds. Lichens (ˈlaɪkən or /lɪtʃən/ are symbiotic associations of a Fungus (the mycobiont with a photosynthetic partner (the photobiont also known as It can be extracted from Cetraria islandica (Iceland moss). Iceland moss ( Cetraria islandica) is a Lichen whose erect or ascending foliaceous habit gives it something of the appearance of a Moss, whence probably [1] It has been studied since about 1957. [2]
