Lââm, {whose real name is "Lamia") lived a difficult childhood due to family problems at home. At a very young age, she developed a passion for music.
Within a day, a producer commented on her singing and loved the way she interperated songs. Lââm's career finally began. She released her first single Chanter pour ceux qui sont loin de chez eux, a resprise of Michel Berger's legendery song. Michel Berger (28 November 1947 Neuilly-sur-Seine – 2 August 1992 Ramatuelle) born Michel-Jean Hamburger, was a very successful Jewish The French public immediately loved the new verion of the song and 960,000 copies of the song was sold on (gold discs). The song ranked as second on Top 50 for 9 weeks straight. The Top 50 refers to a list of weekly hit singles or albums It is similar to the Top 40, but with 10 extra places As a result of succeeding, Lââm released her first album Persévérance which had reprises of Michel Berger's songs, but also singles like "Jamais loin de toi", "Assez", "Les enfants de l'an 2000" or the encore "Face à Face". Some of these singles were modified so they quickly became hit singles. The albums on platinum discs were rare and more than 250,000 copies were sold.
In 2001, she released her second album Une vie ne suffit pas and quickly released it on gold discs and more than 100,000 copies were sold. Two hit singles of the album are "Que l'amour nous garde" and "De ton indifférence". Lââm then had a huge concert/tour at Paris Olympia in 2002. Many times it was said that this musical comedy was a failing production despite that a gold disc for the album was created (more than100,000 copies were sold), and was placed fifth on Top 50 for the official single interpretated by Lââm and Frank Sherbourne.
In 2004, she released an album more broad than the ones before; in its production, it had varietes of rock, R'n'B and rap music, including several duets with (Jean-Jacques Goldman, Lisa Stansfield, Princess Aniès…). In August 2005, she released a single, "Petite Sœur". That song had an R'n'B rhythm to it which made the song rank fifth on the charts and more than 250,000 copies were sold. This song got Lââm more popular; she was invited to a huge number of shows to sing that song. In September of that same year, her album was republished under the name Pour être libre; it included three new songs : "Petite Sœur", "Pour être libre" and "Elle est toujours là". After less than a year, the album was ranked high in France and was certified on gold discs. More than 75,000 copies were sold.
In 2006, she was nominated at the NRJ Music Awards many times as the French-speaking artist of the year and at the Victoires de la musique as female artist of the year against Keren Ann, Zazie and Juliette. Lââm released a new album at the end of the year 2006. The CD came out before the single "Le sang chaud" was out, which was in a duet with the singer Princesse Aniès, had more than 50,000 copies sold, and ranked seventh on Top 50. Despite that she succeeded in the single, the album Le Sang chaud came in at the end of the top and not more than 15,000 copies were sold. This really disappointed Lââm.
However, Lââm was chosen "Voice of the Year" by the public of FilleTV channel. It's the first award Lââm received in her career.
In March 2007, she released a single, "Rien ne dure", which aired on radio. The CD isn't out yet in stores.
In May 2007, Lââm planed to release another single, "Relève-toi". The song is available on legal downloads.
Lââm sung in the album High School Musical 2. High School Musical 2 is the Sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical. She interpretated the song "Savoir qui je suis".
