Kuranes was a great dreamer and made frequent visits to the Dreamlands. The Dreamlands is a fictional location in the Dream Cycle of H In the waking world, he was an ordinary hobo whose name Lovecraft never discloses. Hobo is a term that refers to a Subculture of wandering Homeless people particularly those who make a habit of hopping freight trains. In his dreams, he created the city of Celephaïs, the valley of Ooth-Nargai, in which Celephaïs was situated, and presumably the cloud city of Serannian, which was connected with Celephaïs. Serannian is a fictional city in H P Lovecraft 's Dream Cycle and appears in such stories as " Celephaïs " and The Dream-Quest of Unknown After he died he became the king and chief god of Celephaïs.
Kuranes has also appeared in Lovecraftian pastiches by authors such as Brian Lumley. The word pastiche describes a literary or other artistic Genre.
