Kumarapala was the successor to the Pala king Ramapala, and sixteenth ruler of the Pala line reigning for 10 years. The Pala Empire was a dynasty in control of the northern and eastern Indian subcontinent, mainly the Bengal and Bihar regions from the 8th to Ramapala was the successor to the Pala king Shurapala II, and fifteenth ruler of the Pala line reigning for 53 years He was succeeded by Gopala III. Gopala III was the successor to the Pala king Kumarapala, and seventeenth ruler of the Pala line reigning for 4 years
