Name
The genus is named after the fierce Meso-American god Kukulcan. Mesoamerica or Meso-America (Mesoamérica is a Region extending approximately from central Mexico to Honduras and Nicaragua, defined Kukulkan (" Plumed Serpent " " Feathered Serpent " is one of the many gods in the pantheon of Maya mythology.
