Kris got his first break when he was asked to sing and play drums in a theatre production of Dream a Little Dream: The nearly true story of the Mamas and the Papas starring original "Papa" Denny Doherty. Dennis Gerrard Stephen Doherty ( November 29 1940 – January 19 2007) was a Canadian Singer and Songwriter. He was a member of the cast for it's six original runs. Kris spent two years touring with Lennie Gallant (appearing on his "Lifeline" album), then one year on the road with Dave Gunning (He has played on all of Gunning's recordings since). Lennie Gallant (born in Rustico Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian Singer-songwriter. Vancouver world music band The Paperboys hired Kris to tour sporadically for two years (He appears on the JUNO nominated CD "Postcards") followed by Cape Breton Celtic group Kilt. The Paperboys (sometimes billed and credited as Tom Landa and the Paperboys) are a Canadian Folk music band from Vancouver that formed in The kilt is a knee-length garment with pleats at the rear originating in the traditional dress of men and boys in the Scottish Highlands of the 16th century Upon completing his last run with Doherty in 2001 and taking some time off Kris was approached to work with Great Big Sea.
