Kolsåsbanen is a subway line on the Oslo T-bane network which runs between downtown Oslo and Kolsås. Oslo T-bane is the Rapid transit system of Oslo, Norway operated by Oslo T-banedrift on contract from the transit authority Ruter. Kolsås is the end station of Kolsåsbanen on the Oslo T-bane system With 18 km, it is one of the longest lines of the entire network. A long stretch of the line is located in Bærum. is a municipality in the county of Akershus, Norway. Early 2006, Akershus County Council gave the green light for a NOK 750m upgrade of the line. The detailed plans are still to be finalised but the intention is to upgrade the line to full "metro" standard all the way to Kolsås with a six-car train service in operation. Additionally, a light rail service will share the tracks between Jar and Bekkestua. The intention is to create a transport hub at Bekkestua enabling interchange with local bus services.
