Koç Holding started the year, 2006 with a gigantic move. During the spree of privatizations, Koc Holding acquired TUPRAS, the largest company in Turkey according to ISO report of 2005. TÜPRAŞ or Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri AŞ is Turkey ’s largest industrial enterprise with 28 TUPRAS has investments in the area of oil distillation, exploration and transportation.

Koc Holding also bought Yapı Kredi Bankasi, previously belonging to Çukurova Holding, a leading conglomerate which was recently confisticated by BDDK (Turkish Board of Banking Regulations) for lacking the needed financial structure. Kocbank branches are being transformed into Yapı Kredi and a colossal advertising campaign is underway.
